OVERVIEW

Our Business Development Reps are driven, people-focused professionals. This isn’t just about networking—it’s about embedding yourself in the plumbing community, building genuine friendships, and becoming a trusted partner they rely on. The stronger your relationships, the stronger our business. When plumbers think of water damage, they should automatically think of us—because of you.

YOUR PURPOSE

Plumbers are the front line when water damage happens.  They’re the first call customers make—and we want them to think of us as their go-to partner.  By developing authentic friendships and consistently adding value, you’ll have a direct impact on our referral pipeline, reputation, and ultimately our ability to grow the branch.  Remember, plumbers talk.  If you win one, you often win ten.  If you lose one, you risk losing a community.  This role is our growth engine!

YOUR MISSION

Your mission is simple but powerful.  BUILD authentic friendships with plumbers.  POSITION us as their trusted partner for restoration referrals.  CREATE long-term loyalty that drives consistent referral business.

  • Know your market’s plumbers personally.


  • You are expected to be seen, recognized, and trusted in supply houses.


  • Treat plumber referrals as the highest priority.


  • Log your daily touches and event participation for accountability.


  • Collaborate with the team:  Bring your creativity and personal energy to the table. Become the best, then duplicate yourself.

  • No disappearing. Plumbers should always see and hear from you consistently.


  • No sloppy follow-ups. Every referral must be acknowledged, updated, and honored.


  • No wasting time. Plumbers respect efficiency—be brief, respectful, and reliable.


  • No “transactional” mindset. This role is about friendships, not quick deals.

  • CONSISTENCY BEATS INTENSITY:  One donut run won’t win plumbers. Doing it every week builds trust.


  • BE USEFUL, NOT SALESY:  Plumbers respect efficiency and honesty. Show up to add value, not to pitch.


  • THINK LONG-TERM:  This is about joining their tribe, not scoring quick wins. Once one plumber trusts you, you’ll naturally get introduced to many more.


  • HAVE FUN WITH IT:  Plumbers have strong personalities. If you can laugh with them, you can build with them.


  • REP THE BRAND:  You are the company to every plumber you meet. Professionalism, respect, and integrity are non-negotiable.


YOUR STRATEGY

  • Show Up Where Plumbers Are
    • Visit plumbing supply houses weekly (early mornings—coffee and donuts in hand).
    • Join plumbing associations, meetings, and local events.
    • Be present on job sites when appropriate—offering help, drinks, or encouragement.

  • Deliver Weekly “VALUE”
    • Provide plumbers with referrals, resources, or intro's that help them grow.
    • Share knowledge (e.g., code updates, new tools, time-saving tips).
    • Create small but consistent wins for plumbers so they see you as indispensable.


  • SOCIAL GRAVITY
    • Organize casual BBQs, golf outings, or happy hours.
    • Host bi-weekly “lunch & learn” sessions with tool reps or supply partners.
    • Build a sense of community where plumbers want to be around you and your brand.


  • Have Real Conversations
    • Ask about their toughest jobs, their favorite tools, and their biggest frustrations.
    • Listen more than you talk—show plumbers you actually get them.
    • Capture personal details (family, hobbies, interests) and follow up authentically.


  • Build Trust at Every Turn
    • Treat plumber referrals like gold—update them quickly and thoroughly.
    • Be brief and respectful of their time, especially when they’re slammed.
    • Follow through on every promise—your word is your reputation.


  • Run the Rhythm
    • Daily: 1 meaningful touchpoint (visit, call, or text).
    • Weekly: Add at least 2 new plumbers into your network.
    • Monthly: Host or attend 1 plumber-focused social or learning event.
    • Quarterly: Review and deepen your strongest relationships.
